Sustainable Development - Connecting Science Learners to Growth Opportunities

We are involved with previously disadvantaged learners in different learnerships funded by the Services Sector Education and Academy Authority (SETA). Learners are interviewed, selected and placed in departments relevant to their tertiary qualifications. Many of these learners are subsequently offered permanent employment at SABS. We intend to increase our participation in technical learnerships.

SABS also has involvement with initiatives in secondary education. This includes our Schools Science Project, which aims to support the education of students from disadvantaged communities. The project entails equipping rural schools identified by the Presidential Imperatives Programme, with science laboratories. These schools are assisted with the provision of laboratory and computer equipment. This step will facilitate the teaching of science and technology subjects, so helping to alleviate the skills shortage in this field.
